THE COMPROMISE

What you normally give up

Every team makes the same trade. The spreadsheet is free and instant, but anyone can overwrite anyone and nothing records who changed the number. The purpose-built tool does the job properly and charges per person per month for a queue five people touch twice a week. The version built in-house is the right answer and sits behind a six-month backlog. So the spreadsheet wins again.

What you get

Four things that come with every app in this category.

01

Its own sign-in

The people who use your tool get their own login — email and password, or Google. Those accounts belong to the tool, not to your Exepad login.

02

Private by default

An internal tool asks for a sign-in before it shows anything, and stays out of search engines unless you decide otherwise. Nothing is public until you say so.

03

Everyone sees their own work

Records belong to whoever created them, automatically. A submitter opens the app and finds their own requests, not the whole company’s. Nothing to configure, nothing to get wrong.

04

Roles you describe in plain language

Say who does what — an approver sees the queue, a submitter sees only their own requests — and the tool is built that way. No permission matrix to maintain.

What it actually produces

Internal tools are private by definition, so there is no public one to link you to. Here is what you actually get, described plainly — screenshots follow from a real published tool.

The queue

A filterable list of every record your people create, with status, owner, and date. Approvers see the whole queue; submitters see the rows they filed.

The record

One request opened in full — its fields, its history, and the photos, invoices, or documents attached to it. Editable by the people you said may edit it.

The sign-in

The first screen anyone hits. Email and password or Google, on your own domain on Pro, with no way past it into the data behind.

What's included

Everything below is part of the product, not an add-on.

  • A private app with its own sign-in, separate from your Exepad login.
  • A database behind every list, queue, and record your people create.
  • Files on the record they belong to — photos, invoices, documents.
  • Up to 50,000 records and 250 MB of data on Pro.
  • 500 MB of file storage for attachments, 10 MB per file.
  • 100,000 app requests a month on Pro — daily use across a department.
  • 200 notification emails a month on Pro, sent from an Exepad address.
  • Your own domain on Pro, or a free exepad.app address.

Free covers simple web apps — three of them, one live at a time. It stores no records, so an internal tool that saves anything is not a Free-plan app.

Pro is $25/month and is where internal tools live: unlimited full-stack apps, 50,000 records, sign-ins for the people who use your tool, your own domain, and advanced AI models.

Every guide in this category

All 11 guides in this category — the full list, not a selection.

Track inventory without a single spreadsheet

Stop chasing stock counts phoned in at the end of the day. Publish one app your team updates from the floor, with live counts, low-stock alerts, and a database you fully own.

Track every project in one shared app

Stop chasing status across a ticketing tool, a wiki, an email thread, and a 'weekly update' doc no one reads. Publish one tracker every stakeholder can open and trust.

Collect data online and use it the same day

Stop pasting form submissions into a spreadsheet and processing them by hand. Publish one app that collects, validates, and routes every entry into a database you can query immediately.

Organize every document in one searchable app

Stop hunting through Drive folders, email attachments, and shared inboxes for the latest policy. Publish one app where every SOP, contract, and policy is tagged, searchable, and version-tracked.

Track every asset from purchase to retirement

Stop chasing laptops, vehicles, and licenses through an Excel sheet nobody updates. Publish one app that captures every assignment, audit, and disposal — with a full history attached to each asset.

Replace spreadsheets with one real app

Your business runs on shared sheets that break every Monday — formulas overwritten, two conflicting versions, and no one knows who edited what. Publish one app with a real database, real permissions, and a real audit trail.

Digitize paper forms in one afternoon

Paper intake, inspection, and audit forms get filled out, scanned, lost in inboxes, and retyped into a spreadsheet that nobody trusts. Publish a digital form that captures, signs, and writes every submission to your own database.

Consolidate your SaaS stack into one app

You signed up for one tool, then another, then 18 more. Each holds a slice of your data, none of them talk, and the bill creeps every quarter. Publish one app that does the same job — flat-fee.

Centralize every business record in one app

Customers in a CRM trial, sales in a sheet, support in tickets, finance in bookkeeping, marketing in an email tool — answering 'how's the business doing' burns half a day. Publish one app where every record lives in one database.

Move beyond email for real work

Requests, approvals, project updates, and customer issues live in email threads that get lost, can't be assigned, and can't be searched by status. Publish an app where every piece of work has an owner, a status, and a permanent record.

Automate the work nobody wants to do

Ops staff burn hours on copy-paste — moving form submissions into a sheet, sending follow-ups by hand, updating status across three tools. Publish one app where the form, database, and email share the same workflow.

Frequently asked

Can other people edit the tool alongside me?+

Your tool can have as many users as you need. Editing the tool itself is still one person — Exepad accounts don't have extra seats yet. In practice one person describes each change and publishes it, and everyone else simply uses the tool.

How much can an internal tool hold?+

On Pro: 50,000 records, 250 MB of data, and 500 MB of files, with 100,000 app requests a month. For a request queue, an equipment log, or an approvals tracker that is years of use, not months.

Can I run an internal tool on the Free plan?+

No. Free is for simple web apps: three apps, one live at a time, and no record storage at all. Anything that saves what your people enter — and anything with a sign-in — needs Pro at $25/month. That is the honest line between the two plans.

How do people get access to the tool?+

Your tool has its own sign-in. People register with an email and password or with Google, and those accounts exist only inside your app — they are not Exepad accounts and they cost nothing extra. You describe who is an approver and who is a submitter, and the tool behaves accordingly.

Will our internal tool show up in Google?+

Not unless you want it to. An internal tool requires a sign-in before it shows any data, and it stays out of search engines by default. If you later want one page of it public — a status board, a request page outside suppliers can file into — you say so and publish again.

What happens when the process changes?+

You describe the change and publish again. A new field on the request, an extra approval step, a status nobody anticipated — these are sentences, not tickets. The tool your people are signed into updates, and the records already in it stay exactly where they are.
